What Shopify costs in Malaysia
Shopify’s monthly plan fee depends on the plan. Check current prices on Shopify’s pricing page. Your payment gateway then charges per transaction, which is what this guide compares.
Payment gateways for Shopify in Malaysia
Malaysian shoppers expect FPX online banking and DuitNow QR at checkout. Shopify doesn’t offer these natively, so stores add a payment app. HitPay’s app adds FPX, DuitNow, cards, Touch ‘n Go, GrabPay and ShopeePay to one checkout. Other local gateways with Shopify apps include Billplz and Fiuu; see our side-by-side pages (HitPay vs Billplz and Fiuu alternative) and check each provider’s current published rates.
HitPay fees on Shopify (Malaysia)
Method | HitPay rate | Shopify app fee | Payout |

FPX | 1.8% + RM0.40 | +0.5% | T+1 business day |
DuitNow | 1.2% | +0.5% | T+2 business days |
Domestic cards | 1.2% + RM1 | +0.5% | from T+1 business day |
International cards | 3% + RM1 | +0.5% | from T+1 business day |
Touch ‘n Go | 1.9% | +0.5% | T+2 business days |
GrabPay | 2% | +0.5% | T+2 business days |
ShopeePay | 2.2% | +0.5% | T+2 business days |
No setup fee and no monthly fee. Source: hitpayapp.com/my/pricing.
Worked example: on a RM200 FPX order, HitPay’s fee is 1.8% + RM0.40 (RM4.00) plus 0.5% for the Shopify app (RM1.00), so RM5.00 in total.
Where HitPay is and isn’t the cheapest
HitPay adds 0.5% on Shopify orders, so for a store that only sells online through Shopify, a gateway with a lower app surcharge can cost less. HitPay makes the most sense when you also sell in store (card terminals or Tap to Pay), by payment link or invoice, or to customers in Singapore and the Philippines, all from one account.
